Nun geht es bald los und mein Abenteuer Südkorea beginnt in wenigen Tagen.

Südkorea! Ich wurde so oft gefragt, warum denn bitte dahin? Für viele ist dieses Land bisher ein unbekannter, schwarzer Fleck auf der Weltkarte. Man hat schon immer mal etwas über Nordkorea gehört oder gelesen, aber Südkorea? Und dann kommt es ganz langsam: „Da gab es doch mal so ein Lied. Irgendwas mit Gangnamstyle und so nem komischen Tanz. Ach und gab es da nicht auch einen Film? „Parasite“ oder so? Und kürzlich so eine Serie? Irgendetwas mit „Game“?“
Selbstverständlich kennen und nutzen wir auch Samsung und mein Bruder findet, dass Hyundai wirklich gute Autos macht.

Die jüngere Generation ist im Vergleich dazu voll informiert und wurde von der „Koreanischen Welle“ bereits erfasst. Man hört koreanische Musik (K-Pop) oder kennt zumindest die bekannteste koreanische Boyband BTS. Natürlich hat man schon koreanische Serien auf Netflix gesehen, oder wenigstens „Squid Game“. Auch Mangas und Webtoons kommen schon längst nicht mehr nur aus Japan. Korea ist mittlerweile der viertgrößte Markt für Computerspiele und koreanische Kosmetik ist sowieso die Beste und hält mittlerweile auch schon bei Müller Drogerie Einzug.

Dieses gerade mal 100.200 km² kleine Land mit seinen 51 Mio. Einwohnern hat es in nur wenigen Jahrzehnten von einem der ärmsten Länder zu einem hochmodernen, reichen Industriestaat geschafft. Im Vergleich dazu ist die Gesellschaft mit ihren Normen und Wertevorstellungen noch eher traditionell eingestellt, befindet sich jedoch gerade in einem Wandel.

Dies alles finde ich hoch spannend und macht für mich einen großen Reiz aus. Ganz nebenbei hat Südkorea eine mega leckere Küche und koreanische Sprache klingt für mich wie eine der schönsten der Welt.

Und weil euer Interesse an meinem Abenteuer so groß ist und ihr alle wissen wollt, wie es mir ergeht und wie es in Südkorea läuft, habe ich diesen Blog ins Leben gerufen. Ich hoffe, ich kann euch damit ein Stück auf meinem Weg mitnehmen.

Why Korea?

Now it’s almost time, and my South Korea adventure will begin in a few days.

South Korea! I have been asked so many times, why there of all places? For many, this country is still an unknown, black spot on the world map. People have heard or read something about North Korea, but South Korea? And then it slowly dawns on them: „There was this song, something about Gangnam Style and that weird dance. Oh, and wasn’t there a movie? ‚Parasite‘ or something? And recently, a series? Something with ‚Game‘ in the title?„

Of course, we are familiar with and use Samsung, and my brother thinks that Hyundai makes really good cars.

In comparison, the younger generation is well-informed and has already been swept up by the ‚Korean Wave.‘ They listen to Korean music (K-Pop) or at least know the most famous Korean boy band, BTS. Of course, they have watched Korean series on Netflix, or at least ‚Squid Game.‘ Even manga and webtoons are no longer exclusive to Japan. Korea is now the fourth-largest market for video games, and Korean cosmetics are considered the best and are already available at Müller drugstores.

This small country, spanning only 100.200 km², with its 51 million inhabitants, has transformed from one of the poorest nations into a highly modern and affluent industrialized state in just a few decades. In comparison, society remains relatively traditional in its norms and values, but it is currently undergoing a transformation.

I find all of this highly fascinating, and it adds a great allure for me. On top of it all, South Korea has an incredibly delicious cuisine, and the Korean language sounds to me like one of the most beautiful in the world.

And because your interest in my adventure is so great, and you all want to know how I’m doing and how things are going in South Korea, I have created this blog. I hope that through it, I can take you along a part of my journey.
